Sorry for the delay....

Hello all. Sorry for the delay, I have been working lots of hours with few days off and have neither been able to play anything or make any advancements on any projects until this past weekend.

I have finished the Ultramarine assault squad that is part of an ongoing commission. This squad is highly modular  with quite a bit of magnetizing.
All of the following can be changed out: The packs, jump packs, the Seargent's left close combat arm can be swapped for 3 different weapons, the Seargent's right hand can be replaced for 2 different pistols, or a comat shield, one of the other marines his right arm can be swapped out to hold 2 different pistols, and I almost forgot the Metla bomb is magnetized to the Seargent's right leg.

Here are some pics with different load outs.

I aslo did kind of a purplish pink engine glow on the jump packs inspired by the Space Marine video game. This pic was before i finished it. I went back ans smoothed the glow some. I was working with some new paints and was trying to get a feel for them and how to work with them.

Sitting on the table in the painting que I have a drop pod, a veneral dreadnaught with multiple weapon options, and a squad assault terminators with swapple arms twin lightning claws or thunder hammer and storm shield. I think the next will be a couple of Tactical squads so he can begin playing with them.

Terminators Done Onto Assault Marines!

I know there has been some delay but I thought I would post some updates. The Terminators are done. and here are some pics. The assault cannons are magnetized and can be replaced with regular storm bolters.

Here is the start of the Assault Marines. The Sergeant has a mess of selections including a magnetized melta bomb on his leg and one marine has an interchangeable bolt/plasma/pistol. The whole squad can also have regular or jump packs.

Hopefully I can get to painting on these ASAP!

Wow 2 Days 2 updates WTH is going on?!?!?

Yes, believe it or not, this will be my second update within 2 days. I must be a crazy person.
I had an update that I felt I would post. I have the first figure painted of the Terminators and this was the test. I think it works. This is meant to be a quick, good looking table top quality mini. This particular mini took approximately 3 and a 1/2 hours to paint over 2 days. I think the results are great for that quick of a paint job. The first 3 pics are kind of bright, but I upgraded my PC and have lost my photo editing software. the last picture shows the color more appropriately than the others. What do you all think?

Ultramarines 2nd Company Commission and update

Wow it has been some time. I have been playing some 40k and some Kill Team. Kill Team is kinda nice that it only takes about an hour and a half to play a game.
I accepted a commission for an acquaintance that was looking for someone to paint his Ultramarines. He wants them to be the Ultramarines 2nd Company. lead by Captain Cato Sicarius. I received the first wave of figures on Friday. This weekend I got started on the Terminators.
Here is the progress thus far:

Norkila Tesla

After much consternation about the OSL (Object Source Lighting) on the arcing electricity on Norkila's Kustom Force Feild, I have made a change.
Many people thought it looked like frost forming on his shoulders and farther from the arcs. So I went back and took some blue wash and lightly "blued" in the light farther from the arcs. I think this makes all the difference. A week ago last Saturday The Orks faced off against the Dark Angels. Norkila stood by his Warboss but was struck down by Samael on his jetbike.
Here are the pics of the change.

Looking to get more games in while I have weekends off... we shall see.

A bit more WAAAGH!

In the past week I was able to finish 2 more Orks. An Assault on Black Reach, Ork Warboss that I modded with an attack squig. The other is a Big Mek with a Kustom Force Field that was also modded. I added a burna and some lightning between the coils on his pack.

Onto the pics:
First the Warboss

Now onto the Big Mek. I attempted some more OSL (Object Source Lighting) Using the lightning as the source. The Burna was a skorcha from a spare plastic Killa Kan kit. I removed the Fuel barrel on the rear of the skorcha and attached it to the back of the pack. I used some wire and some Hudson & Allen barbed wire for scale model kits to make the arcing lightning or energy.

I still need to finish basing the Big Mek but I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.

On another note this past weekend I was off for the first time in a while and was all geared up to play a game of 40k but it was not to happen. But Joe got a game in and we broke out the Battle Missions book and Joe's Sisters of Battle took on Chaos Space Marines. It was kinda neat to watch. For a Battle Report click on his link to his blog to the right of this post. Titled the Battles of the Sisters of Battle.

Well, till next time keep it pointed straight up there!

A new year, a year older, and updates.

Well, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. This update has come later than I had hoped. Working Christmas and New Year Weekends and turning a year older seems to settle in some melancholia. Wow, did I just use a $20 dollar word like melancholia in the proper context?

I am a member of the 40 Radio Freebootas. It is a paid forum that is a great group of guys that are very supportive and encouraging. They are also a very talented group of guys that enjoy the hobby and playing Warhammer 40k for the fun of it. I can honestly say that 40k Radio helped re-kindle my interest in the hobby that is Warhammer 40k. The Freebootas are a great group of guys, and a girl here and there.
The 40k Radio podcast can be found on iTunes or here:

For the Christmas season the Freebootas can sign up for Deep Striking Santa. Where you are given the name of another participating Boota and they send them a gift. Well I finally got mine from my Deep Striking Santa. He assembled and painted to match my army a Finecast Ork Big Mek with a Kustom Force Field. I was speechless. Here are some pics:

Thank you Dark Angel 13!

My hobby time this week was re-directed to organizing and straightening the shelves in the Mancave. I set up 2 of the shelves as displays. So Joe and I could display figures, instead of keeping them packed away all the time. I installed some lights and built some neutral colored foam core display areas to keep the figures from falling through the wire shelves. Here are some pics.
Believe it or not, this is VERY organized. :)
Here is a close up of of the figures in the display.

I also used some craft foam and made some damaged vehicle templates to use for games. I will see about getting some pics of them later. So until next time, Keep it pointed straight up there!
