Post Christmas Update. WAAAGH and SWTOR

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and will have a Happy New Year.

I had hoped that I was going to be able to finish that Mob and Trukk before we got our early access codes for SWTOR (Star Wars The Old Republic). That didn't happen so I have been playing SWTOR as most of my free time. I believe I am going to have to dedicate a specific slot of time to hobby time, painting and building. But for those of you not familiar with SWTOR it is set in the Star Wars universe thousands of years before the time period depicted in all 6 films.
Here is a Cinematic for the game:

But yesterday I spent all day working out in the mancave and I do have some pictures to show for it!

I was able to finish my second trukk for my Orks.

Here it is with it's Mob and I have the Blue Trukk with it's Mob.
The more I look at these, It looks like weeks work of goes into almost each figure, but that is not at all the case. I should try to make a tutorial on how I paint this style.

Okay till next year, Keep it pointed straight up there!

WAAAGH update... looming deadline

Enjoying Day 2 of 11 days off! I have self imposed a deadline. Sometime during these days off I should be expecting my early access to the MMORPG game Star Wars: The Old Republic. Well knowing how much time that is going to eat up, I am trying to get at least another Mob of 12 figures, their Trukk, and an independent character painted up.So far it's looking good. I was able to finish the mob of boyz. Now onto the Trukk and the Independent Character.

I had a bit of a set back with my first Trukk that I posted pics in the previous post. In the game Orks have a vehicle upgrade called "Red Paint Job". For those not familiar with Warhammer 40,0000 when yo build an army list everything costs points. These points allow people with different armies to try and fight on an even ground when it comes to an army's points value. So you square off against another with say a 1500 point army. Well this upgrade allows the Ork vehicle to go faster. Because as every Ork knows, RED GOES FASTA! Well in Warhammer 40,000 there is a rule called WYSIWYG (pronounced Wizzy Wig, but means: What You See Is What You Get). Well If I had wanted to use the "red paint job" technically It has to be shown on the model. I thought the NOZ bottles I painted on the engine, would suffice. Well I had to pursue something a bit more drastic. I took some buckets from the Warhammer Fantasy Empire Great Cannon accessories sprue. Then scratch built a brush. Filled the bucket with glue.
Then I painted them up and placed one in the trukk bed. I then streaked Red paint on the front and sides of the trukk so it looks like a Grot or a Boy grabbed the brush and streaked some red paint on his trukk to make it go fasta! Here are the Results:

I made 2 buckets because I will also need another one for the 3rd Trukk since it will be Yellow.

Then I was able to finish my second mob. Here they are in all their Red and White glory. The Trukk when I finish will also match them.

Well that is all I have for now. Hopefully I will have at least 2 more models done by the time I can start okaying Star Wars The Old Republic.

Until next time, keep it pointed straight up there!

Every Mob 'o Boyz Needs a Ride

Well I know it's been a few days since my last Update. I am trying to spread out my updates and show regular progress instead of dumping a bunch of updates in one posting. Preventing the longer intermissions. So enough rambling about that. I have finished my first Trukk for my first mob. So I will go ahead and post the pics.

Then of course if you don't have red paint you have to have some "NOZ" bottles to make it go fasta!

Until next time, Keep it pointed straight up there!

Nurgle Infestation, The WAAAGH Continues, and other fun things....

Greetings Friends and Followers,
I did not forget about an update. I had gotten really sick around Thanksgiving and that caused me to skip my posting. You know how hard it is to eat a great turkey dinner with a severely sore throat? It was not fun.
I was able to get the one mob of boys completed and also Ghazzkull Thrakka complete. I am still working on the Trukk for that mob of boys done. My idea is to complete each mob and their ride together, before moving onto another mob or vehicle. Throwing in a character here and there. Well, I want to go ahead an post these pictures and get some more painting done before having to get ready for work.
Onto the Pics: Here are the boys:

Now onto Ghazzkull Thrakka:

Well guys, Hope you enjoy the pics. If you have any questions or comments feel free to let me know.

Painting advancements on the WAAAGH....

Despite having some serious back pain this past week, I was able to shuffle out to the mancave and get some progress on my first mob of regular boyz. This is 10 Choppa/Slugga boyz, one big Shoota boy, and a Slugga/Power Klaw Nob. I decided that they would have denim-like shirts, and like a dirty, worn brown canvas pants (like some carpenters wear). The idea is the armor plates including shoulder plates, will be blue and white. These should then "pop" visually on the table top. Also trying to get them looking cohesive with those Killa Kans. We shall see if my plan works. Okay, enough rambling on to the pictures!
Here are some pictures with completed skin, warpaint, and faces.

Here are some pictures of the completed pants and  accoutrements.

Hope to have more done this week even with Thanksgiving. I will post next weekend. Try not to eat too much.Till next time, keep it straight up there!

WAAAGH update...

Well, I was able to get the one monster un it of gretchin and 3 runtherds done, and did a simple base job on them. I know they are old school models but I am really happy with the way they came out. It's so easy for everyone to do the dirty rusty orks. On the other end of the spectrum was the overly bright complicated paint jobs that go back 20 years to the second edition of the rules set. I think there can be a happy medium of scratched, scraped paint and bright colors. I have tried to mimic the paint job a great friend does where he finds that great balance. As I stated in the previous post he did send me the killa kanz and I received them I already enthusiastically based them to mach the gretchin.
Here are the gretchin and runherds. I also included some closeups.

I have decided to paint them in units. Thank God I don't have more units this large!
So what do you all think? I will try to be sure to make weekly updates. Until next time, Be Good!

The WAAAAGH Continues...

Hola followers!
Sorry for the delay in posts. When work is taking 32 hours of my Friday through Sunday it has hampered some gaming and hobby weekends. I was able to get in one game with my new Orks against new Sisters of Battle. I made some mistakes took a beating from the exorcists, but with only a Zzap gun and a single mob of boyz left I pulled out a draw. Okay I am sure you are done hearing about the gaming and want me to get onto to Hobby pics.

When I started on Orks, a great friend decided he was going to give me 3 painted Killa Kans. He told me I could re-paint them if I wanted, but when I saw the pics no way I was going to repaint them, as a matter of fact I am gonna paint all my stuff to go with them. Here is a pic he sent me of the 3 Killa Kans:

So I did some more modding making some old ork boyz into Runtherds.
Finally got my self a purple hart:

I started painting my unit of gretchin and the runtherds. All the models are older versions as you can see on the Ork's clown shoes that were predominate about 20 years ago.I think they are coming out well. I painted 5 to get the colors I wanted.
This is the rest after 2 days of painting, then I need to flock all the bases when I get them all done.
I did some free hand details on the Runtherds, the shoulders and the back plates.

I also got an addition for my Deffkoptas off Ebay for $20. I introduce to you the Red Barork!. and yes his prop is motorized!

So that is where I am at right now. I am going to see about a re-match against the Sisters of Battle with the same lists. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Until then be good!

But wait, there's more WAAAAAAGH!

I have been working more on my Orks build. I put together a 3rd Trukk. I also built my Battlewagon. I am slightly disappointed that the Games Workshop did not put all the options in the box, no Kill Kannon, no Deth Rolla. Really, Games Workshop? Oh Well. At least with the Orks I feel free to do some building and make it feel Orky. I built the Battlewagon and left some pieces un-glued, but secured magnets or made clip on pieces that I could change out the build of the Battlewagon.
Here are some pics of the Magnetic mods:

Of course any self respecting Warboss will need a Deth Rolla to make his Battlewagon a proper one. I sat down and decided to scratch build a Deth Rolla that will "pop" on the front of the Battlewagon and replace the reinforced ram. Here are some pics of the scratch build. Believe it or not, those are actual Games Workshop large figure bases!

Well, there it is. My next project I will take attempt to take an old Space Marine Rhino, and make it into a trukk shaped like a small Pirate ship! Stay tuned. Maybe if I can get through the build phase I can get to starting some painting.
